Chamber
Music

Chamber music is a genre of classical music originally intended to be performed by small ensembles in an intimate setting, such as a private salon or a small concert hall.

The Surrey Chamber Music Program is an enrichment program that operates in addition to our existing orchestras. Players of all classical instruments are encouraged to join, and you do not need to be a member of our orchestras to do so. Following Chamber Music placement auditions, students will be put into ensembles with others of similar age and playing ability.

THE CHAMBER MUSIC PROGRAM OFFERS TWO WEEKEND INTENSIVE WORKSHOPS IN THE FALL AND SPRING FOR MUSICIANS. CHECK BACK FOR MORE DETAILS OR EMAIL [email protected].

Skill Development

Today, being part of a chamber music ensemble it gives students the opportunity to further develop musical skills such as listening, rhythm, intonation and an understanding of compositional form. Additionally, by working within a small ensemble, students develop leadership skills and a sense of musical responsibility and accountability.
